I first came to teaching early in life, playing school with my brother and sister. My next adventure with teaching came when I ventured to Alaska for college. I graduated from college with a degree in elementary education and moved to the village of Savoonga, a predominately Native community. While in Savoonga, I taught grades second through sixth. This gave me the opportunity to use technology in the classroom and to experience many different grade levels. I spent many hours working on the school's computers in order to make sure they were maintained in order to be useful to classroom teachers. During my time in Savoonga I was given many opportunities to attend the Alaska Society for Technology in Education. These conferences along with my time as a technology liaison have given me a deep understanding of the power of using technology in education. I had the opportunity to manage the school's computers and network. While in Savoonga, the district I worked for decided to improve their curriculum by going standards based. This gave me the opportunity to serve on the district's technology curriculum committee and help revise the districts vision for the use of technology. My helping to revise the curriculum gave me the opportunity see how technology can be integrated into the curriculum. I have since moved on from this district, but continue to use many of the techniques in regards to technology integration.
These experiences have led me to develop some goals when it comes to using technology in the classroom and my own growth as an educator. I believe technology is something that is necessary in today's world in order to collaborate, manipulate, research, debate, explain, and present ideas. I believe students are ready to use ...

... only give me opportunities to see the latest research and pedagogy with relation to educational technology, but also learn skills need to use technology effectively with students. My goals are to learn ways for my students to collaborate, manipulate, research, debate, explain, and present ideas using technology. I will learn these ways while also learning about how to evaluate my own teaching and change my methods. Through learning about my own teaching I will be able to reflect on the theories of others. This will give me the opportunity to use many of the new skills I learn in the classroom to help all of my students achieve. Through this program I hope to come away with an understanding of how to use technology to make my own teaching more meaningful for my students and how to help my students to use technology to understand and communicate with their world.

Essay on My Personal Statement On The Field Of Education

- I was born in Ecuador, but I have lived most of my life in the United States. To me higher education was an abstract dream due to the increasing tuition cost of universities and limited financial aid available to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (D.A.C.A) students. I knew where I stood in American society as a D.A.C.A, first-generation and low-income student. Thus, my commitment to work with education-related issues is the result of my personal, academic, and professional journey. It’s my belief that children deserve a quality education regardless of their economic background....   [tags: Higher education, Education]

Application Essay for Dietetics Internship Program

- The most significant experience I have had in my life was coming to the United States without speaking much English, going to school, and earning the Bachelor’s degree. Living in a foreign country and going to school was very challenging, especially when I was a self-supporting student working and attending classes at the same time. I achieved it by my motivation, discipline, and flexibility, as well as the emotional supports from family and friends. Throughout the experience of living in the U.S., I have learned important aspect of life, extended understanding and respect toward other cultures, and matured greatly as a person, which I could never be accomplished if I stayed in Japan....   [tags: Admissions Essays, Application Essay]

Essay The Educational Researcher: Review and Response

- 2.1 Forum Analysis A. Research and Identify: Background / History of Forum Although the Educational Researcher does not have a stated political position and is not interested in politics on the surface, some political ideas and opinions are very evident within its pages. In my opinion, the Educational Researcher tends to lean more towards the liberal/progressive side, because the articles they publish tend to have some very progressive ideas, theories and research. The journal also tends to side with educators and professors who for the most part usually lean a little to the left....   [tags: Literary Review]

College Vs. Career Education Essay

- College vs. career education The topic of College versus a career education is an ongoing debate that is currently being argued in places from the dining room table to the federal government. “President Obama vowed that the United States would have the highest number of students enrolled in college: that by 2020, America would once again have the highest proportion of college graduates in the world. In 2002, a handful of technology powerhouses — Apple, Microsoft, SAP — realized there was a profound gap between the knowledge and skills most students learn in school and the knowledge and skills they would need to compete in typical 21st ce...   [tags: Higher education, Education, Tertiary education]

Statement of Purpose: My Interests in Math, Physics, Statistics and Computer Science

- For years, I was surrounded by people who would react astonishingly when I told them my academic profession. In high school it was physics, in Fudan University it was computer science, and I’m beginning statistics - all fields that aren’t as common for girls. “Wow…” they’d say, as they scanned me from face to toes. It would be unreasonable if I claim that I had never questioned my choice, especially during the adaptation period into computer science as a rookie. I can still recall the desperation I felt in my first program designing class....   [tags: Educational Goals, application essays]

A College Education at Any Price Essay

- “An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. Education is the absolute key to success in life, yet education is one of the most costly expenditure in America. - Critical Thinking Application Teaching higher order thinking skills is not a recent need. It is apparent that students, at all levels of education, are lagging in problem-solving and thinking skills. - The Problem of Technical Improvement Of Education ABSTRACT: What follows considers the problem of technical improvement as one of the main problems in the philosophy of education.
